2011 Tzfat Klezmer Festival

The 2011 annual Tzfat Klezmer Festival will be held this year on August 15, 16, and 17th. This is the 24th year this wonderful musical tradition has been held and it's the largest festival of Jewish soul music in the world.

Who's Performing?

Stages will be set up throughout the city including in many of the city's ancient cobbled alleyways and all performances this year are free to the public. The best Klezmer musicians both in Israel and throughout the world will be attending and you will find many famous names on this year's performance roaster including: Yonatan Razael, Mirel Reznik, Aharon Razel, Eyal Shiluah ,Erez Lev-Ari , Daniel Zamir, Musa Berlin, Jimmy Lloyd, Women`s group "Klezmiriot."

Festival Activities For Children and Adults

In addition to the many musical performances, there is a host of other activities that will be held throughout the city including "Klezmerim for kids" which is a program that will encourage children to try out different klezmer instruments. There will also be a magic show, storytelling, demonstrations of musical instruments and children's plays. All activities are free of charge during festival days.

For adults there will be walking tours and workshops in the spirit of Kabbalah and the city of Tzfat and the Jewish National Fund (JNF) will also be leading historical and music tours throughout the old city. Each tour will be accompanied by a Klezmer musician from the festival.

International Masters Class

After the festival, from August 18-24th, the 8th annual International Masters Class will be held and it will be hosted by several reputable klezmer artists. Maestro Giora Feydman will by leading this year's group of teachers and the Artistic Director of the 2011 Klezmer Festival, Hanan Bar Sela, will also be involved.
