The Jacksons
The Jackson family moved to Israel from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado in 2003, so it was natural for them to be attracted to the mystical mountains of Tzfat. Yaron has loved and been involved in real estate in the US for decades and has begun work in this field here both in the north of the country, as well as in Jerusalem. He found the perfect home for his family situated at the foot of Mount Cana'an in Tzfat where they enjoy the view of the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee ) and savor the fruit of the many trees in their yard. Laya teaches and is an inspirational speaker. She's also an author, a freelance writer, and one of Tzfat's most prolific blog writers, as the inspirational and beloved AuntLaya. The two Jackson teens light up the house (when they're home!).
Mt. Canaan
A few years ago, the Jacksons decided to open their extra guest room to visitors who want to experience Tzfat, it's magnificent views and clear air, and its spirituality. The Jackson's oversized guest room has a full/double bed and a couch that can transform into two twin beds. The entrance leads from the back of Mt. Canaan, a historical neighborhood of Tzfat located close to the Central Bus Station and the Old Jewish Quarter. The beautifully tiled and large bathroom has a very roomy shower. This light and airy guest room is equipped with a unit to provide heat in the winter and air-conditioning in the summer. Wireless Internet is free. There is also a US phone line which is available on a limited basis for calling friends and family in the US or Canada.
A small desk for guests' use is built in with shelves that have a selection of mostly family movies. There are three large book cases well stocked with a varied library of books, puzzles and games to add a homey feel to the room. There are also two balconies: one off the room is small with a view of the "metzuda" and the other has a view of the Kinneret. When visitors want to relax, they may stretch out on one of the padded lounge chairs and enjoy the serenity. This house is off the beaten track, so if it's peace one is looking for, this is the place. The home is located about a 10-15 minute walk from the old city (about a 5 minute walk from the central bus station). There is off street parking for one guest car.
