M Bagel And Pizza Magic

Now your travel party doesn't have to split up if you can't decide between eating bagels or pizza. These two popular meal options have recently joined forces and are now served in one eatery appropriately named: M Bagel and Pizza Magic.

Location

The restaurant is situated near the top of the Midrahov, almost opposite the Great Stairs. It is very popular with the student and English speaking crowd so even though there is seating inside for 50 and for 10 outside, the restaurant still gets very crowded. Due to its popularity there can be queues even in the winter, and in summer the queue can be out the door, especially for take out, so be prepared to wait. It is air-conditioned and has a wifi connection so you can even bring your laptop and work, if you can find room at a table!

The Menu: Dairy.

The bagels are freshly made on the premises every day but do go early to avoid the queues. If you leave this task for too late in the day and don't have time to wait, you may miss out on your taste of an American deli standard that's almost unobtainable elsewhere in Israel.

The Bagels

With a choice of plain, onion, sesame, poppy, everything and whole-wheat, the main problem will be deciding which one to try! The bagels are filled individually to order and there is a good selection of soft cheeses, raw and cooked vegetables, lox etc. You can have your bagel toasted or plain and prices start from 16shks.

The Pizza

Individual pizzas (or pizza yisheet) start at 15shks and there is a wide range of toppings available. Just don't ask for fish on your pizza as cheese and fish together aren't allowed under the Safed hechsher.

The Rest Of The Menu

If you want something a bit different try a butternut squash boat, which is squash filled with vegetables and topped with melted cheese. The macaroni cheese and the lasagna are also delicious. In winter there is a homemade soup of the day that ranges from the unusual like lentil and butternut squash soup to a more standard tomato soup. Whatever you choose it will be very tasty and good value for money.

Israeli breakfasts are on offer all day and are served with toasted bagels and jam as well as your choice of eggs.

The Desserts

The home-made cakes and desserts are enticing enough to make you break your diet, especially the cheesecake, so watch out!

The Drinks

A good selection of coffee, hot chocolate and tea are all available as well as canned cold drinks in the chill cabinet. In summer why not ask for an iced coffee to help you cool down.

The Restroom

The restroom is through the kitchen so you need to ask for access.

Opening Hours

Winter: 8am till 10.pm

Summer: 8am till 12.00pm or even later in the height of the season.

Prices are very reasonable for Safed, especially for the cakes and desserts.
