Mountain View Restaurant

If you want a sit down meat restaurant with a great view, the Mountain View, or Mull HaHar in Hebrew, is the place to go. Situated on the Midrahov about a third of the way up on the left hand side of the street, overlooking the mountains, it offers a wide variety of meat options. Owned by the same people who run the dairy Art Café restaurant, you can expect a high standard of presentation and care from the wait staff.

Recently refurbished and decorated, Mountain View has a magnificent view from the windows that is reflected in the mirrors that run the length of the restaurant, giving you a sense that you are surrounded by mountains. The restaurant can seat around 40 people in a comfortable mixture of chairs and banquette seating and the tables for two or four can be expanded to fit larger parties.

The Menu: Meat

The Business Lunch

Between 12pm and 4pm in the off season you can get a business lunch for 44 nis, which consists of a selection of soup or salad, a choice of meat from the grill, pita bread or laffa, a Tunisian or Yeminite type of flat bread, and a soft drink.

Meat On The Grill

Even if you come in at lunch time you might prefer choosing the very generous meat on the grill meal option at 68 nis. This meal is easily enough for two. The wait staff are usually happy to give you an extra plate, unless they are very busy or in the height of summer, when they may ask you to order at least another starter.

A choice of two types of meat from the grill, e.g kebabs of turkey, chicken or hearts is served with 10 house salads plus humus and pita or laffa, and either rice or French fries. For an extra 20 nis you can splash out and have lamb ribs or steak as your meat option.

A Lá Carte

If you prefer to go a lá carte there is a selection of starters between 15 - 30 nis including soup, salad, and mini kebabs. The entrées include steak (74nis) and lamb ribs (78nis), and there is also a fish option if there is someone in your party who's not a meat lover.

The Drinks

There is a reasonable selection of beer and wine available by the glass (25nis) and of course cold drinks, tea or coffee are also available. Remember, as this is a meat restaurant, the coffee and tea are served black or with a non-dairy creamer.

The Desserts

To avoid disappointment go for the sorbet or the fresh fruit option as non-dairy "creamy" desserts are usually a bit of a let down for those used to the real thing. Desserts start at 15nis.

Group Bookings

Special menus are available for large groups that book in advance, and it is even possible to reserve the whole restaurant for a private party if your group is large enough.

Opening Hours

11am - 10.30pm or even later in the height of the season.
