The Palatine
Built 15 years ago for celebrations, the Palatine is a perfect choice if you are looking for a large venue for a wedding. Conveniently located near the bus station on Jerusalem Street, it has its own underground parking which together with nearby street parking gives space for some 150-200 cars. Close to the entrance to the city, it is very easy for out of town guests to find and, at the same time, it is near enough to the center of town that locals can either walk or take a taxi.
The Outside
For most of the year it is possible to have the chuppah (wedding canopy) outside. There is a delightful fountain to enjoy with plenty of space for your guests to mingle and get to know each other. There is also room to offer your guests a hot and cold buffet as well as drinks while they are waiting for the ceremony to begin.
The Inside
On the upper floor are rest rooms, a bar, a food buffet, casual seating, the cheder yichud (seclusion room), the management offices, and the small hall. There is a magnificent staircase that leads downstairs to the main hall where a waterfall greets your guests. For the infirm or elderly there is also an elevator that takes people between floors.
The Small Hall
The small hall has a nice view facing Biryya. It is able to hold a simcha (celebration) for up to 180 people so is ideal for a bar mitzva, a large group event, conferences, an office party, or of course a small wedding.
The Large Hall
The very experienced crew offers a variety of room layouts and decorations, table linens and settings for up to 700 guests. The room has its own sound and lighting system so your band or D.J. will just need to bring their instruments or other equipment. You won't need to worry if you want to book a large band as the stage has ample space for a full band or of course the latest D.J. The room is also equipped with video wall screens so you can show photomontages, videos, or even live pictures of your guests dancing the night away.
The Catering
The Palatine has its own very large purpose built kitchens on the premises with a mashgiach on site. The Palatine caterers are well able to handle a wide selection of menus with everything available from the excellent barbeque style aperitif buffets to a magnificent dessert Viennese table. The helpful Palatine staff will be on hand to give you the benefit of their experience and the main problem will be which of the many delicious foods to choose, and still keep within your budget! The prices vary according to the menu chosen and as in most wedding halls the price of the whole event is charged by the plate.
Meir Hadif
Meir, a middle aged Safed native, is responsible for the Palatine in every sense of the word. He and his brother Moshe had the idea of building a wedding hall so that the people of Safed could have a large modern hall to celebrate their simchas. Fifteen years later he is still the menahel (manager) and with his 8 to 10 permanent staff sees to the day to day running of the hall. As he says he "just wants to make people happy" and what better job is that!
