Tzimer Express

The heart of Tzfat's Old Jewish Quarter is Kikar HaMeginim, Defender's Square. Throughout most of Tzfat's history, Kikar HaMeginim was called "Kikar HaPachim", Coal Square, because it was here that the town's coal was sold. During the 1948 War of Independence, the underground army known as the Hagana set up their headquarters in the square, and after Tzfat's liberation, it became known by its present name, Kikar HaMeginim.

The square now hosts a lovely hotel, the Tzimer Express. The Tzimer Express describes itself as "a different kind of hotel that offers all the comforts of a home with hotel style amenities at affordable rates."

Tzimer Express offers a wide variety of options for guests and can accomodate single travelers, couples, and small families. Their rooms are carefully decorated and arranged, allowing the décor of the rooms to blend in with the Tzfat's Old City. Modern conveniences are not neglected however. Each room has an air conditioning/heating system, a fridge, basic kitchen necessities, and all Shabbat amenities.

All of the rooms are renovated and were once the homes of the residents of Old Tzfat. Each is a bit different in character and size, and can accommodate different numbers of guests.

Abuhav House

The Abuhav House is suitable for up to six people. In addition to the bedroom, couches and pull-out beds may be opened in the spacious living room. A dining room with wood furnishings makes family meals a pleasant option. The Abuhav house has a small kitchenette for guests' use.

Old City Classic

The Old City Classic Suite is a recent construction, and the furnishings match, to give the room a modern feel. A couple with a child would be comfortable in this room, which features a bedroom, a complete kitchen and a living room/dining room.

Rooftop Suite

The Rooftop Suite is another beautiful modern suite which would be comfortable for a family of four. In addition to the bedroom, the suite includes a complete kitchen and a living room/dining room. As the suite's name indicates, the suite is located on an Old City rooftop, giving it a magnificent view of Mt. Meron and the surrounding mountain range.

King David

The King David Suite's porch also offers guests the opportunity to sit outside and watch the sunset over Mt. Meron. The King David suite has been built to accommodate a family of four, with a bedroom, pull out beds in the living room, a full kitchen, Shabbat amenities, and a living room/dining room.

King Solomon

The King Solomon, which shares its balcony with the King David Suite, is light and airy, with many windows and a porch for guests to enjoy Tzfat's air and view. This lovely room comes complete with Shabbat amenities, as well as with a large bedroom, a living room, a dining room, and a full kitchen. The King Solomon suite includes a large screen TV with cable hook-up and a swinging chair & table set by the balcony.
