Yuval Yisrael
A Pioneer in Creating Three-Dimensional Art
Yuval Yisrael's art training began at a young age. As the grandson of the famous American watercolor naval artist Arthur Beaumont, Yuval was encouraged to develop his talents early, and was trained in traditional mediums such as oils, watercolors, pastels and charcoals. He became interested in architectural drawing and design in his teen years, and in the 1980s, Yuval became one of the first to venture into three-dimensional graphics, becoming a pioneer in producing 3D digital animation for the television and movie industry.
During the following decades, Yuval continued to lead the industry in development of computer graphics. He formed and ran two separate companies to promote his vision of how this art form could and would revolutionize animation and movie production. Yuval was among the first photographers to harness the new digital photography technology, and his photos, taken while traveling the world, are works of incredible beauty and grace.
3-D Jewish Art
In 2007, Yuval immigrated to Israel, beginning his life in Israel at the prestigious Machon Meir Yeshiva (men's seminary) where he delved into the study of Jewish texts as he strove to understand the study of traditional Jewish learning. Having been fascinated by the mystical and numerical meanings of Hebrew letters for many years, Yuval concentrated on that discipline, studying the roots of the letters and ways that the letters, believed to be powerful in the Kabbalistic tradition, could be expressed artistically.
Yuval's art is comprised by the layering of many elements. His Hebrew letter art utilizes three-dimensional graphics, and is often woven into his landscape photography, creating a unified work of art which incorporates his two passions, Hebrew letters and nature-photography.
Yuval's photography is grouped in series - sunsets, city landscapes, rural and nature photos, and photos from around the world. His photos are taken during his travels, as he hikes and backpacks to remote areas. He will stay in one spot for hours in order to photograph the same scene hundreds of times as the light and composition change, sometimes subtly and sometimes dramatically.
Many of Yuval's photos are developed as art photography, but many more become "texture maps" with the addition of Hebrew letters and words Yuval's goal in these texture maps is to create works in which the concept of God is acknowledged as the ultimate Creator of all. Yuval painstakingly manipulates each letter and each word until he feels certain that the resulting blend of photography and Hebrew letters make it abundantly clear that his work is praising the ultimate act of Creation.
At the present time, Yuval has recently relocated to Tzfat and has not yet set up a gallery in the city, though he intends to do so. His work can be viewed at http://www.myinspiration.com.
